• Whether the door is one piece or sectional
• The approximate age of the door and opener
• Whether a spring looks stretched or broken
• Your address and when you are home

Photos can help if you can take them safely. Do not touch a spring or the cables above it.

Be careful if a provider refuses to put a price in writing, pushes you to decide on the spot, or demands full payment before any work begins. Also be cautious if the quote seems far below every other one. Odd pricing often hides extra charges later.
